If you’re going on elective, either in the UK or abroad, it’s important to arrange your indemnity. As a student member based in the UK, you can register for FREE worldwide elective indemnity which will provide you with a range of benefits for the duration of your placement, including access to assistance with:

• DDOs provide assistance to dental students and professionals should they face any dentolegal problems throughout their career.  This can include investigations, inquiries, complaints, disciplinaries and criminal proceedings relating to clinical practice. 
• DDOs also provide indemnity against clinical negligence claims.  This means doctors are financially protected if they are sued. 
  
   

• MDDUS is proud of its mutual membership status. This means we operate solely for the benefit of our members, instead of paying profits to shareholders. Our members’ subscription fees are reinvested to prioritise protecting their careers, reputations and financial security. 

• While it is not a regulatory requirement to join a DDO as a student, it is recommended. 
• If a complaint is raised against you while on clinical placement, or if you are the subject of a fitness to practice investigation, you will have peace of mind knowing that MDDUS is on your side.
