New website for prescribing in dentistry

  • Date: 30 January 2023

DENTISTS can now access the latest guidance on drug prescribing in primary care dental practice on a new website.

Drug Prescribing for Dentistry brings together advice on dental prescribing from the BNF and BNFC.

The new site replaces the Dental Prescribing app (first introduced in 2012) and has been developed by the Scottish Dental Clinical Effectiveness Programme (SDCEP) with NES Technology Service. It is designed to be accessible on mobile devices and desktop computers.

SDCEP said the app had “reached the end of its useful life” and is no longer being supported or updated. Dentists are being advised to delete the app from their devices.

SDCEP added that it will review each new print edition of the BNF and BNFC and “will endeavour to update the website in as timely a manner as possible".

“However, be aware that due to the time required to prepare updates, the website may not always reflect the information available in the latest version of the BNF.”
