Support for dental practices in Scotland to upgrade ventilation systems

  • Date: 25 June 2021

DENTAL practices in Scotland are to be offered financial help to purchase, renew or upgrade ventilation equipment that meets the requirement of 10 air changes per hour.

The Scottish Government will set aside £5 million fund a scheme which will run for the duration of the 2021 financial year. Funds to be held by NHS Boards will be disbursed to practices meeting the conditions of the scheme.

In a statement the Scottish Government confirmed that practices will be able to make a claim for the period 1 April 2020 to 31 March 2022.

The decision follows on from a Scottish Government survey on the use of ventilation equipment in dental practices.

Further details of the scheme and how to apply will be provided by way of dental circular to be issued to the sector.
