Annual GDC renewal reminder

  • Date: 13 November 2018

ANNUAL GDC registration renewal for dentists has opened with a final deadline of 31 December.

Dentists who do not renew by that date will be removed from the register and not allowed to practise.

This year the GDC is urging dentists to renew sooner rather than later in order to ensure any issues can be resolved before the closing date and to avoid the busy period leading up to the Christmas and New Year bank holidays.

To renew GDC registration, dentists will need to:

  • pay the Annual Renewal Fee (ARF)
  • make an annual, or end-of-cycle, CPD statement
  • declare that they have or will have indemnity.

The quickest and most efficient way of doing this is via eGDC (access at www.egdc-uk.org) – an online platform that is accessible 24/7. It is also a helpful way to keep personal details up to date and download annual practice certificates.

Dentists can also renew by post (ensure forms and payment are posted by 18 December) or via telephone by calling 0800 197 4610.

This year, all dentists (except those who joined the register in 2018) will need to make either an annual CPD statement or an end-of-cycle CPD statement. The need to make a CPD statement, each year, is a new requirement of the Enhanced CPD scheme, rolled out at the start of this year. Dentist how have not done any CPD this year will need to make a 'zero-hours' CPD statement. To check your CPD requirements, log on to your eGDC account.

Contact the GDC with any questions or queries about how to renewal (including the requirements for CPD) by phoning 020 7167 6000 or by email at renewal@gdc-uk.org.
