Open FAQs
  • Do I need MDDUS membership if I already have NHS indemnity?

    • Yes.  NHS indemnity does not provide assistance with medico-legal issues, such as complaints to the GMC, disciplinaries and criminal proceedings relating to clinical practice.  Some work also falls outside the scope of NHS indemnity, for example, cremation forms and medical reports undertaken as part of NHS placements.

MDDUS membership ensures you are fully protected.

  • How much would I be indemnified for?

    • MDDUS membership provides unlimited indemnity.  We will not decline to assist a member purely because of cost.

  • What is a mutual organisation?

    • MDDUS is a mutual organisation, meaning that we are wholly owned by our members.  We have no shareholders and pay no dividends, so we can prioritise protecting, supporting and safeguarding the interests of our membership.
