MDDUS would like to remind members and their staff to consider carefully whether it is truly necessary to send us medical and dental records in relation to a complaint.
Should you need to provide patient records to MDDUS please send only those essential for us to offer appropriate advice. Remove any unnecessary personal data – in particular, patient and other third-party identifiable details should be redacted. Records containing unnecessary personal data may be deleted by MDDUS and will have to be re-sent by members.
Please ensure you follow appropriate data security measures when sending records to MDDUS. Data controllers should ensure that their privacy notices reflect that medical or dental records may be provided to professional advisers where necessary in order to obtain advice to assist with a response to a complaint.
