UNDER the Primary Care Team Professional Advice Protection plan all non-GP members on the practice team can enjoy access to expert advice and support with complaints in respect of clinical practice indemnified by state-backed schemes in England and Wales (CNSGP, GMPI). In England this includes NHS primary medical services delivered on behalf of the Primary Care Network.
The product provides regulated non-GP members of the team with access to indemnity for additional non-NHS work (not covered under the state-backed schemes) undertaken on behalf of the practice with registered patients. This includes travel clinics, medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.), life insurance reports and medicals, insurance claim forms, private sick notes and more.
The plan is provided free to practices where all GP partners are MDDUS members. In practices where all GP partners are not in MDDUS membership there will be an annual charge of £50 per regulated team member. Non-regulated staff (HCAs, phlebotomists, etc) will be covered free of charge.
MDDUS also offers an essential extension to the above plan for individual regulated non-GP staff. Primary Care Team Regulatory Protection provides access to assistance and legal support in regulatory matters, including fitness to practise investigations.
Non-GP clinicians can submit an individual application to become MDDUS Associate members. Subscription rates will be £158 per person and will be in addition to any charge for Primary Care Team Professional Advice Protection – which is required before the regulatory protection can be offered.
More details on these products and how to apply are available on the MDDUS website.
