Marian was a solicitor at Linklaters in the City specialising in corporate finance before joining Shepherd and Wedderburn where she was a corporate partner for many years. In 2009 she was appointed UK general counsel at the global insurer AEGON, joining its UK executive and global leadership teams. Marian is a non-executive director of Martin Currie Global Portfolio Trust plc and is a member of its Audit Committee. She is a former non-executive director of Financial Services Compensation Scheme, Friends Life Group, the FTSE 100 insurance group, Shires Income plc and a former external member of the Audit and Risk Committee of the Water Industry Commission for Scotland, the economic regulator of the water industry in Scotland.
