Jo is a GP and chief executive of the Gloucester GP Consortium, which provides primary care to deprived communities, and of GDoc, the countywide GP provider in Gloucestershire. She is a clinical associate to the Systems Transformation Group of NHS England. She was previously the Care Quality Commission’s National Medical Advisor on Urgent and Emergency Care, and medical director of Gloucestershire Care Services NHS Trust. Before becoming a GP, Jo trained in emergency medicine and intensive care, and attained membership of the Royal College of Emergency Medicine. Jo was awarded an MA in medical law and ethics from the University of Manchester and has studied transformational change in healthcare at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard. Before becoming a doctor, she read modern history at Lincoln College, Oxford. She has a particular interest in clinical governance. (Appointed to the Board 2017)
