Margaret qualified as a dental surgeon in1990 and spent the first three years working as a hospital dentist, mainly in maxillofacial surgery. Having obtained Fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, Margaret undertook specialist training in orthodontics, qualifying in 1997 with Membership from the Royal College of Surgeons and a Masters degree in Dental Science. Having worked for 2 years in the community dental service, Margaret opened her own practice where she still works part time. In 2013 Margaret was appointed to the Fitness to Practise Panel at the GDC and was appointed Chair in 2016. The 10 years spent hearing cases gave Margaret a broad experience in matters related to regulation of the dental profession. Margaret has completed a Post Graduate diploma in Dental Law and Ethics, the Bond Solon Civil Certificate for Medical Expert Witnesses, DLM for the Faculty of Forensic Medicine and achieved an LLM in Legal aspect of Medical Practice. In addition, Margaret sits as a Presiding Justice on the Wiltshire Bench Magistrates Court. Margaret joined MDDUS September 2024.
